Volunteer Interview Considerations

Some useful advice and good practice around interviewing volunteers for your organisation...

Preparation

  • Check the role description. 
  • Read any application paperwork
  • Meet with anyone else involved in the interview to agree the division of questions areas and roles to be played (e.g. chair, scribe, timekeeper etc.)
  • Arrange the interview at an appropriate time and location
  • Book the venue
  • Inform the prospective volunteer well in advance, providing details of location, time, duration, travel expense provisions, any other selection/matching processes involved etc.
  • Check if special arrangements are required
