Regional Chair: Mary Spence

Mary lives and works in Fife where she is a Staff Nurse in a community hospital ward. She studied nursing at Dundee University where she gained a Dip HE in Adult Nursing, then later achieved a BSc in Nursing (palliative care) at Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. She has been committed to volunteering for many years. She is currently the chairman of the Adamson Hospital League of Friends, a shop volunteer at the Royal Air Force LeucharsThrift Shop and serves on the Scottish Committee of Attend. Mary believes that volunteering is not only good for the organisations or individuals helped through volunteer work, but is also very beneficial to the volunteer. Volunteers gain new skills, a sense of achievement and feeling of wellbeing, it can also help those looking for work to gain references and to make new friends.
